Eyelashes are a type of hair with a 3-stage life cycle (anagen, catagen, and telogen) similar to the hair on the head but much shorter (1-9 months instead of 3-6 years). Our eyelashes protect the eyes and absorb dirt and irritants. They easily become weakened as they are constantly subjected to friction (especially from makeup) and pressure (during makeup removal).
The number of eyelashes decreases, and they become thinner, sparse, and damaged after the age of 40.
